"When a McCain adviser first floated the idea last month, Obama said it was a great idea. But the Illinois senator told reporters Tuesday that it's not realistic to have 10 town halls..."

Apparently, Obama was for it before he was against it.

It should be pointed out that Senator Obama never agreed to McCain's initial proposal of 10 'Town Hall' meetings in 10 weeks. What Obama said was that he liked the idea/concept of 'Town Halls' and was confident that something could be worked out between the two campaigns. 10 was always an unrealistic figure to expect. In the end after all negotiations have been completed look for two or three Town Halls this summer and the three standard debates this fall...possibly resulting in a 100% increase in the number of face-offs in compared to previous years.

He agreed conditionally and that was all he committed to at the time. There was no dramatic turn around in his position. IMHO, 10 town hall meetings are overkill. I'll leave it to the republicons posting here to supply the only drama this refusal to agree on conditions contains.

Yes, I fully expected a liar by the name of Hussein to turn it down.

I don't understand why they couldn't come to a meeting of the minds! They need to start practicing their reaching across the aisle. We the people could ask questions in the town hall meetings! I like the open forum!

          Thanks libs!

For some elements of the US political body 'we the people' are considered a wild-card they need to control through 'smoke and mirrors' at all costs at all times.

Maybe Obama is afraid he won't have a script to follow. He seems to faulter a bit without one.
