Fact Check: McCain and Social Security »
Posted By TechnologyExpert 3 months, 4 weeks ago in NewsJohn McCain has long advocated letting workers divert some of their payroll taxes into private accounts. So when he says now that he won't privatize Social Security, that raises eyebrows. He doesn't want to call his plan what is really is - a partial privatization of the Social Security system.

I admire Johnny McCain.
Hes workin real hard to pander to ... er ... I mean appeal to the most vocal element of us Christian Conservatives.
That element is the reactionary ones ... the ones who LEAP to the furthest extreme opposite a problem.
Liek instead of fixin Social Security by fundin if appropriately, we Christian Conservatives say ... PRIVATIZE IT!! As if THATS a shure fire solution to every problem.
I think the reason we Christian Conservatives always say this is because we see goverment as 'The Problem' and business as somehow our 'Golden Savior'.
Which is odd cause our heero GW VASTLY expanded the size and un-answerable power of the Federal Goverment.

I guess if theres one thing you can say bout The Modern Republican ... the ideologie is CONSISTENTLY ... INCONSISTENT.

If Bush had succeeded in privatizing Social Security when he wanted to, even more people would have watched their investments drain away than already have in their 401Ks and IRAs.
It was on Bush's watch that bankers got a law repealed that formerly protected investors from the slicing-and-dicing of subprime mortgages into CDOs that got sold to other investors. Now that has all come tumbling down and the only people who are better off are CEOs like O'Neal, who was sent packing with a $161 million bonus, while investors lost their shirts.
Privatizing retirement investments is only a good idea if the companies handling the investments are tightly regulated, something Bush has fought tooth and nail from the beginning.

I wish someone had privitized Social Security. We would have twice the return. I know how much I get from S C, and I know how much we get from Invesments, and S C won't pay for your utilities, much less, medical expenses, or groceries. Doesn't the House, and Senate have privitized retirement? I want what they have.

Well ani ... if they HAD privatized social security in GWs first term ... you woulda been wiped out.
And all your other complaints dont make much sense. SS was never SPOSED to pay for your utilities, much less medical expenses. It was meant to make sure you had some steady income in your retirement years.
The House and Senate has a Goverment Plan ... just liek you always whine about.
