"The Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting raised $21.5 million last month. He had $31.5 million in the bank, up $10 million from the end of April.
Obama had his weakest fundraising month of the year. The Illinois senator's campaign raised $21.9 million in May. The disclosure came a day after the Democratic candidate's reversal on the question of whether he would take public financing for his presidential bid, a move which drew sharp criticism from McCain."
$400,000 less, is that all? In the world of campaign finance, that is a negligible number. Looks like the tides may be turning for Obama.

Apparently the Republican party outraised the democratic party in May, by $20 million.

I also will be donating to Senator McCain next month. I plan on dating the check for Nov 23 and on the memo line I'll write 'ticket home 1 cup of coffee*'.
The man tried and I think he deserves it.

Democrats think because they started campaigning 22 months before the 08 election that is how it is done. It isn't. Obama tapped out all his big George Soros type donors before they got a good look at him. Now they can see his 20 year relationship with a man who cursed, and damned this country in front of him, his wife, and their children. That is not what winners are made of. Sen McCain is just now meeting with big money people, and he will do just fine.

Aniokly: On the generous assumption that mere facts have some relationship to your reality, I am going to point out that Obama has had more than a million independent donors so far; that is a record.
The maximum a contributor can donate: $2,300
As for his church:
Do you really think that anyone would attend a church for 20 years if there was no spiritual content? If the preacher was the monster you paint, endlessly cursing and ranting like a Propeller nutcase?
Most Americans swap churches every few years.
How long you been attending yours?

Is English your second language? George Soros made Sen Obama the candidate he is today, but he is not going to continue giving him money after he realizes the man is mumble mouthed, and cannot talk unscripted. In 2004, after the Democrats lost in 2000, 2002, and 2004 Soros called Democrats Professional losers, and said, I own the Democrat party. I bought them, and they are mine. In 2006 he boutht them a Congress, a congress that really hasn't shown most Americans much effort on their part. He will not make any more donations on a loser if he perceives Obama to be losing. Got it now?

Second, each candidate can also legally collect funds to be used in the general election. however, the candidates who accept public funding (approx. $84 million) in taxpayer money) will not be allowed to collect funds in this manner. They can only spend the $84 million they get from the government. Obama has chosen NOT to accept public money because he realizes that he can collect far more privately. McCain claims that this is unfair, yet he is privately collecting and spending as much as he can before the convention, to avoid the limits of a government-financed campaign. Yet there are even more ways to get around the limitations of government financing, and both candidates will utilize these as well.

There's much more to campaign financing than meets the public eye--and that is exactly the way the politicians want it.
The candidates can first raise money while they pursue their respective party nominations. That is the mode in which both McCain and Obama are currently operating, and that is the sort of fundraising that the linked article discusses. Although Obama has raised considerably more money this year, he has also spent more fending off the challenge of Sen. Clinton, while McCain, who sewed up his party's nomination much earlier, has been able to spend his money in attacking the presumptive Democratic nominee--even though he is still spending "primary campaign funds." e only has to shift to "presidential campaign funds" when he formally accepts his party's nomination. McCain is actually collecting and spending money now in a way that he will not be allowed to after August--and so is Obama.

Third, each political party can collect and spend money separately from the individual campaign treasuries of their candidates, and these efforts are not limited by the candidate's acceptance of public funds. Thus, even though candidate McCain, who accepts public funds, is prohibited from raising additional private money for his campaign, the PARTY may raise unlimited amounts and spend it in efforts to assure his election. It's all SEPARATE, you see. Right! Of course, the Democratic party will be doing the same thing. This is why we don't have viable third parties in this country. An independent candidate would have to personally have as much money as Ross Perot in able to be heard amid the tide of both candidate and party money that the Democrats and Republicans can spend. Besides this, each party sets up an "independent" Senatorial campaign fund and House Campaign Fund so they can spend for those offices without touching the presidential campaign money.

There's nothing to look forward to. We have two major parties, & both are dedicated to the same basic goals. Both are fully committed to defending the interests of the US corporate oligarchy. Both advocate militarism & imperialism, and neither gives a fig about the Constitution. Both are full partners in opposing government accountability to the public. Both endorse wars based on lies, murderous occupations, endless war against phantoms, & spying on our country's citizenry.

The above link just goes to show how it is better not to vote for the candidates you see often on TV.
That's because in today's system if you see them often on TV they've got corporate money paying for the ads, or corporate media pushing them and ignoring other candidates.
Its the candidates that are ignored, ridiculed and scorned by the corporate media that you want to vote for. They are the ones on your side.
