He is somewhat correct. But you can be a successful corrupt Chicago politician, and still be naive about such things as Foreign Policy, and National Security. As far as being a slimeball politician, he learned from the best.

He is nowhere nearly as good at Chicago political stuff as the real Fast Eddie. Fast Eddie is an entity unto himself.

Hey ani, are you referring to Vrdolyak? He could teach at a university level on how to "get things done" when it comes to dirty politics.

Barack Obama is simply doing what is necessary to further his ultimate goal: the Presidency. I am not surprised by this. What I am surprised is how long it took most people to notice this kind of behavior about it, particularly the press.

And I am utterly stunned that the New York Times published this.

So, will this get looked into by the rest of the press? I think no.

Which is too bad. Because if it is incorrect we need to know and if it is correct we really need to know.

Brian Williams brought it up in Meet the Press this morning.

It should and it will get noticed... if only on the back pages. One test will be whether we see this replace "Big Twins" in the "Propeller Recommends" headlines.

BTW, Joe Biden was running very hard for VP on MTP this morning. He was hitting all the talking points with animation and conviction... the most interesting of which was that the high price of oil is "a gift to the American people."

Interesting article that points out the salient features of the political persona of Comrade OBama aka fast Eddie.

However I really don't think that Valid Putin, once head of the KGB, will be suckered by Citizen Comrade Fast Eddie. Putin's country politically and economically embraced Marxism for decades and through real life and often bitter experience(s) they, the Russians, 'know about' the whole range of duplicitous political behaviour and the psychological profiles of the individuals that 'play that game'.

If fast Eddie is opportunistic the Russians are also; so it could come down to a game of 'the con, an inexperienced fast Eddie from Chicago Illinois politics, conning the con, Valad and the experienced Russian geopolitical apparatus'.

I wonder who would win that one.

          But I really do love this slam on Bill Clinton;

"Even Bill Clinton wasn't smart enough to succeed in politics by pretending to renounce politics."

Not exactly true but close enough to be believed.

Bill was obsessed with nefarious right wing conspiracies to explain away his political faults but the real problem was his inability to determine which 'head' to listen to.

            What ? They've just noticed he's a politician ????

            Damm, they're sharp....

Challenge to all :- Find a single politician (say in the last 25 years) that has NOT changed their position on at least ONE major issue (not just the US, but anywhere) !!

All politicians are duplicitous. It is the nature of 'their chosen' occupation.

However OBama's followers have seen him not as a 'typical politician' but a speaker of 'simple truths' and the definite person to bring 'real change' to American politics via political transparency, earned trust and simplicity of ideas. (Sounds good in theory but not likely to happen in reality any time in the near or distant future. Especially in DC.))

In America, the whole ball game in politics is about appearance, not reality.

              Hence the Times remark;

"He made a cut-throat political calculation seem like Mother Teresa's final steps to sainthood."

And about these facts (from factcheck.org.)

            Lobbyist Loopholes?

We've noted before that Obama's policy of not taking money from lobbyists is a bit of hair-splitting. It's true that he doesn't accept contributions from individuals who are registered to lobby the federal government. But he does take money from their spouses and from other individuals at firms where lobbyists work. And some of his bigger fundraisers were registered lobbyists until they signed on with the Obama campaign.

I must say, I didn't like the way Obama did not look in the camera in his announcement that he would decline public campaign funds. However, I recognized the problem and turned around and contributed to him for the first time.

I've contributed a couple of times already, and will again I'm sure. I know a few people who sent the Government incentive checks to Obama. What a great way to invest in your childrens future.

                  LOL

You two are contributing to the person who would raise taxes to over 50% if he gets his programs going. You want to give a majority of your money to the government? Not me.

Go read his web site and learn what he proposes.

                      It's no joke.

"The new Obama seal--inspired by the real presidential seal--debutted in Chicago on Friday at a meeting presumptive nominee Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) had with Democratic governors. The seal--with the Obama "Yes we can" slogan in Latin--was created by the Obama campaign graphics team. In a bit of graphics whimsy, the seal incorporates the Obama "O" rising sun icon."

Never underestimate the deviousness of a Marxist like Obama. A Marxist is only idealistic when it suits him to be and when convenient but the tools he has obtained from Chicago just enhance his political philosophy.

I've always liked David Brooks' perspective.

"All I know for sure is that this guy is no liberal goo-goo. Republicans keep calling him naive. But naive is the last word I'd use to describe Barack Obama. He's the most effectively political creature we've seen in decades. Even Bill Clinton wasn't smart enough to succeed in politics by pretending to renounce politics."

I think that a worrisome side of Obama - "Dr. Barack could have been a workhorse senator" is that he could have worked on "change" while he was a senator.

Why is he going to be different now?

Because being Senator was just a stepping stone toward the real goal...the presidency.

Newsflash, Liberals: Obama doesn't care about you.

                        He cares about being president.

                        He is not special.

                        He's just a politician.

OBama was just 'punching his ticket' with the 'right people' and organizations to get to the top.

Interesting viewpoints..I'm wondering because if it's politics many of us has our own set of opinion but basically the only thing we are capable of doing is to cross hands that whoever win will do better things for the country.

I think there are several things we can do. Getting involved on a small scale is fairly easy, and doesn't cost a whole lot more than time. You'll find the experience educational, some positive, some negative, and rewarding upon examination. Not getting involved when you have something to contribute is how we got the 2000 election.

All along, I have been stating that Obama is just the same old song and dance. David Brooks elevates Obama to a higher level. A level that makes Obama even scarier. Not because Obama talks out of both sides of his mouth, but that he does so while proclaiming to not be a politician who talks out of both sides of his mouth. If Obama is elected, there will truly be a knashing of teeth and wailing at the wall. The problem is, it will be mostly Democrats spouting things like: I never saw this coming, Why didn't someone tell us he was like this, Where did his ethics go, I can't pay for all his programs,
