OK, who called it first? Obama drops the Presidential-looking seal after the press politely tells him it looks a skosh egotistical. This is what the Germans call "schadenfreude" - enjoying someone else's misfortune.

        The only way that would be hypocrisy is if the republicans on here supported those seals. Unless you can prove that I or anyone else on here is in support of the use of those seals, than you should probably stop calling us hypocrites. Unless you want to look like an ass.
        Also, none of those seals are being used by a Presidential candidate. I think there is more outrage at Senator Obama for using this than there are other groups because it just reeks of arrogance.

        What hypocrisy? Look at the eagles on the GOP's then on Obama's and compare them all to the Presidential seal. Obama's was lifted from it; the GOP's are ALL clearly different.

      Neo, I think the complaints came from a wide swath of the political spectrum, though the most bitter were from the Right. Seals have been made for governmental and quasi-governmental organization before. The difference here is two-fold: 1) The injection of the singular "Obama", rather than an organization, coming off as arrogant and 2) how quickly he tossed it out when he got complaints. It demonstrates a naivete (or lack of guts, maybe?) that doesn't come across as Presidential.

  Look a bit further. This is not an uncommon practice among Presidential Nominees. Furthermore, that seal is not that big of a deal. This is perhaps the smallest in psuychological plays a politician could make.

      When he's elected this coming November, I do not expect the world in which we live in to change overnight, but I do believe Obama, in the long run, will have a better presidency than Bush had, one in which he will be able to accomplish more and improve not only the conditions in our country, but the world, as well.

  I honestly try not to get personal, but this is symbolic of his leadership style. He had an opportunity to stop this before it got started, and he didn't. This one thing tells me as much about his potential Presidency as all of his policy statements.

Man oh Man the left has reduced this election down to a one word thing,,,,,, nooooooo it's not "Change" If Obama wins, they will make him the first "Hyphenated " president, his blackness will the to most important topic.
Like I've said, I do understand African Americans joy to be able to vote for him, I know very well indeed. However, the OFFICE is way more important than who resides there for a period of time. The office will be there after the one or two terms are complete. The man will be judged by the merit of how he held the office, not the other way around.
