Posted by: bigurn 2 months agoSenator Barack Obama has revealed himself to be what some thought of him all along: a fairly typical politician. His soaring ideals are largely being replaced with typical expediency.

"Very few politicians are able to pull off not only appearing to be different than they are, but appearing to be the opposite of what they are. And even fewer have the gift of denouncing what they embody and getting away with it. Yet my sense is something fundamental is changing in how we view Obama; he is losing what made him seem special and inspiring."
He isn't losing what made him seem special and inspiring. He's losing the ability to keep up the charade. He never was what he claimed to be - an agent of "hope" and "change."
Anyone truly paying attention could see he was pandering to a star-struck audience with no substance to his message. Now he's proven to be not only a man whose word is meaningless but one whose word typically is false.

Change for the wrong reasons. Electing McCain would be change. No one his age has been elected before. Would that not give hope to older citizens? Electing Mitt Romney would have been change. He would be the first Mormon President. Electing HIllary would have been change.
Change is not always a good thing. Things can change for good or for bad.

"I would have to argue that a black man as president is certainly "change",
HOW? Specifics, please.
"and does in fact give "hope" to a significant portion of the population."
If you're referring to the black population of the United States (and I think you are), how does 12% represent a "significant portion"? And again - please be specific. I'm tired of abstract words like "change" and "hope", and I think the rest of the country is slowly coming to that conclusion, as well.
Only the truly deluded, or those who have fallen off their rockers, are continuing to support this Jive Turkey.

'Nuff said' is trademarked slogan of Stan Lee, who created and edited comics about good guys who fought against horrible and dishonest bad guys.
Spiderman, superman, batman, obama, - they did what they had to do, keeping their souls and their capes clean against a world they never made.

But you must give him CREDIT for that dedication.
To go through Harvard secretly simmering with hate against the scions of the rich, and yet PRETEND to be one more elitist, - how his soul must have ached for Revolution!
Twenty years of church-going when he knows it is just opium for the masses, winning state and national position under a constitution he dreams of replacing with Mao's little red book; becoming a millionare by day, but at night attending meetings of the Party in the basements of abandoned warehouses, -
Frankly, I can't see most polititions doing the WORK nessessary for such a double-life.
You can fool some of the people some of the time, some of the people all the time, and some people are just fooling themselves.
