      From the Newsweek article ...

"...the bank that manages the trust has not been receiving tax bills on the property."

Can't pay what you don't receive. But, don't let the facts get in the way of your bent ideology.

They paid the bill -- all $6,500 of it. No big deal. Not like it was Franken penalized for not supplying mandated workers compensation coverage as well as skipping out on a hell of a lot more in taxes.

Pretty lame smear attempt by the swift-boating lefties.

Let's recap. Cindy McCain keeps her finances completely separate from those of her husband in accordance with a pre-nuptial agreement. At her own expense, she set up a trust to house her elderly aunt in a La Jolla condo, which (being from SoCal myself) I can assure readers is a pretty generous gesture. Like most people, she arranged to have property taxes through a third party; most of us have an escrow company making the payments through the mortgage bills, while she had the trust do it. Unfortunately, the trust gave the county the wrong address and didn't receive the bills to pay them, and didn't follow up. Since Mrs. McCain doesn't live at the property, she didn't know a problem existed.

According to a McCain campaign aide, who requested anonymity when discussing a private matter, an elderly aunt of Mrs. McCain's lives in the condo, and the bank that manages the trust has not been receiving tax bills on the property.

Well at least he opted for the "ignore it, maybe it'll go away" strategy, instead of the "throw money at it and maybe it'll go away" strategy.

        Republicans call that fiscal responsibility.

I'm not sure that much more needs to be said, except that they'll blame their accountants and financial managers and fire them, claiming that they are responsible.

And that what we call accountability these days.

As opposed to Dummycrats who think they can just keep raising taxes and fix everything.
