Posted By populist 3 months ago in NewsWhen early Americans spoke of self-defense, they didn't just have common criminals in mind. They were thinking of the would-be tyrants up the road. Defense against tyranny is always considered illegal -- by the tyrant. Had the first Americans lost, they would have been hanged as traitors. But they won. So we celebrate them today.

Whatever one thinks of Scalia, his majority opinion in the DC v. Heller decision is sound, and based on solid Second Amendment scholarship.
As former President and Declaration of Independence author Thomas Jefferson stated, "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

Natureboy, it boggles the mind that members of both parties are supporting tyranny, and just cherry-picking which parts of the Constitution and Bill of Rights are fair game.
I'm partial to retaining ALL of my rights, and I expect the president and other government officials to embrace all of the Constitution and Bill of Rights--irrespective of party affiliation. They take an oath and agree to do this!
