there are too many idiots who would see a picture like that and not "get it".
on their next issue they should have a picture of John McCain sitting at a computer trying to figure out how to turn it on with a feeding tube and a pace maker attched to him and his wife next to him portrayed as a trophy.
if that were to happen there would be an absolute uproar.
btw - McCain can't use a computer and I don't know about you but do you want the leader of the largest country in the world to be a guy who can't use basic technology and still thinks Checklosylvakia is still a country. The guy probably has alzheimers.

Let's be honest.
Ok, let's cut to the chase.
Let's keep it clear.
I love the diferent warning phrases that someone is about to sell me something...
So ok, let's be frank; there is no real harm in good-hearted bit of wholeseome satire.
There isn't anyone HERE who would take a punch at ME if I drew a picture of them burning the flag while fist-boppin with a terrorist who looked like my wife.
You wouldn't hit me unless you found me, I mean.
You would of course want to try; and rightly so.

The man is running for president!!!!! How many cartoons have been made over Bush. This whole thing is a joke. The political correct democrats that are ruining this nation with their crying are at it again. Obama is fair game. Yes, his companions are corrupt, Yes he has ties to Islam, Yes he attended a racist church for 20 years, Yes we have freedom of speech. Something the democrats would like to take away from you.

OK: those who read the New Yorker will perhaps pause a moment at the sight of the cover, which doesn't QUITE provide the necessary cues to indicate that the RIGHT as opposed to Sen. O. is being satirized--but will then, remembering the mag's politics, recognize its intent.
Those who don't necessarily know from The New Yorker but are left-leaning will...see above.
Both groups may debate the covers's merits--or rather, the problem of its possible misinterpretation.
Those on the right will undoubtedly seize on the cover as an accurate representation of the True Obama and his politics, regardless of the magazine it graces.
