News circulated fast late Tuesday afternoon that back in 1986, during his initial run for the Senate, John McCain allegedly told a crude joke about rape involving a woman's affection for an ape.

    "It came after his 'Seizure World' joke, in which he referred to the [retirement community] Leisure World as Seizure World... I just think it reinforced this idea that John McCain is humor-challenged. Whatever his qualities, he seems to have a tin ear for how these jokes will go over."

    If elected, will his "tin ear" joke us into a nuclear 3rd world war? This guy's a ticking bomb.

      McCain must be humor challenged, like you said. Look at these gems from Obama and know what true comedy looks like:

      "Enough women repeated it to me at the time and the McCain campaign had a non-denial denial,"

      And the women that repeated this "story" Oct 27, 86, 13 days BEFORE the election just happen to be from the NOW and the Arizona woman's political caucus that supported McCain's opponent

      Okay so we got here?

      13 days before the 86 election, Norma Coile wrote a story about some alleged joke said in March 86 conference of the National league of cities and towns in Washington DC.

      Norma Coile was not at the conference and had no first hand knowledge of the "story".

      She got the story from Baker (that's her full name) of the Arizona chapter of NOW and Carol Zimmmerman Arizona woman's political caucus, neither of which were at the March 86 conference of the National league of cities and towns in Washington DC.

      However BOTH of the woman's organizations BACKED McCain's opponent Richard Kimball!

      Roflmao

      That explains the BLOWOUT!

      McCain 60.6 %

      Richard Kimball 39.4%

    omg! You guys can't come up with something more recent and more compelling than a politically incorrect, sexist and insensitive joke for 1986!!!!

    Give me a break -- and then swear to me that you NEVER, EVER, EVER -- not even once told or even laughed or smiled at a joke that was totally inappropriate.

    and, btw, 1986 was 22 years ago! Do you really have the same sensibilites that you had 22 years ago?

    Please.

      Well, I don't have the same sensibilities that I had 22 years ago. That would put me right at 14 years old. But that's not the point. The point is that McCain does because he's telling the same politically incorrect jokes today.

      Do you recall his little Bomb Iran ditty that he performed at a Town Hall Meeting in South Carolina?

      CNN.com

      http://www.cnn.com/POLITICS/blogs/politicaltick...

      .

      .

      Or what about his most recent gaffe about killing Iranians with cigarettes?

      Washington Post:

      Reuters:

      You can hear his statement on youtube:

      .

      .

      .

      Why is a presidential hopeful cracking politically incorrect jokes in the first place?

      ~~~~~~~~~~
      No, I don't. I'm much WISER and realize that the saying 'sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me' is completely UNTRUE. That, in fact, WORDS can cause deeper long term wounds then a bat.
      Of course, 22 years ago I was 23 years old so you would kind of EXPECT that I was STUPID.
      On the other hand, 22 years ago John McCain was older then I am NOW so one should equally expect that that he was wiser as well. Of course one would ALSO expect that of a 70 year old who is running for President and that's not the case either.
      The simple fact that (in his 70's as a President of the United States) he is STILL making off color, tasteless, and inappropriate jokes (at a time when he REALLY should be choosing his words carefully) says a hell of a lot more about this man then what he might have said 22 years ago.
        True...my sensibilities have changed over the years, but one thing I've never told is a racist/misogynist joke.
      There is one thing consistent about McCain. He is consistently unstable and reckless, screws up and then either says he is sorry or just denies the whole thing. That is one hell of a leadership right there....
        yes we are surely in terrible shape come November. Neither of these two guys are fit to be president.
        I had been taught the it was the cream that floats to the top -- of course, we now know it's also the cream that'll kill you.
        Or maybe its just that crap floats.
        whatever.
        I am really beginning to think that we might actually be better off going back to the smoke-filled room method of choosing a candidate.
        Or...
        1. Allow no one to speak of their presidential aspirations before January of the election year (yeah, I know 1st Amendment rights and all that, but it might be worth it. Hell, make it March. Most other countries do the whole election thing in three months).
        2. All states have their primaries on the same date. Here in CT, there was no one even left on the ballot by the time I got to vote!
        3. Conventions in August.
        4. General campaign starts Labor Day -- as is traditional.
        5. Election in November.
        works for me!
      Oh come on! You know the jokes are funny...and...well...jokes... Get over it! The jokes I hear all the time all over the place are worse than this. And I often hear them from women. Women who can look past politics, realize the silliness of PCness and take a joke as a joke.
      Although McCain apparently has a problem, politically. He may well lose an election based on something like this. Makes me feel great about voters :/ Just as Dean lost his bid because of his psychotic seeming, but unimportant, listing of states he planned to keep fighting in..
      Hmmmm. I see a pattern in this.
        "Till this day it has never been proven definitively true or false whether the Senator ever said the line. "
        That's from the article...
        So we got ourselves a joke he told 22 years ago that nobody was able to prove he actually said.
          I read this also and LMAO in rl! Even the person who wrote it back then didn't know if he said it.
          ""I'm not sure exactly what the wording was of the joke, but something was said. Some joke involving a rape and ape was said. Enough women repeated it to me at the time and the McCain campaign had a non-denial denial,""
          How is that for political double speak, of course this is a reporter... "I heard from some women that something was probably said that contained the words "ape" and "rape" (or maybe it was crape, or drape, or shape, but it was a word that rhymed) in the same discussion, so I made up a joke that represented what I think he might have said if anyone had heard him say something. But I heard from women that something was said, so what I say he said although no one else knows what he said was said! And he didn't quite deny it to my satisfaction so it is TRUE!". And now we have a "news" story.
            Yes, more of the same BS from the Propeller lefties. They were all aghast at the rumors of Michelle Obama's "whitey rant" tape, yet here they fall over themselves in their rush to condemn McCain over a completely unfounded rumor of an alleged joke 22 years ago.
            What a bunch of sad sack hypocrites! And Aidenag is at the head.
            It also proves why the Huffington Post has zero credibility.
            Okay, sure, this is 22 years old and not relevant directly to this campaign...but oddly, it is more relevant than say, a quote by a minister years ago is to what another candidate believes. It is more relevant in that the speaker here is the candidate and that this is indicative of other actions and responses which this individual has made over the years.
              Are you dumb enough to say an allegation of a rumor never proven and long since denied somehow has any relevance?
                OK, and Leftist web site says that maybe some kind of rape joke was told 22 years ago, and a Leftist women's group kind of remembers being mad about it 22 years ago, and oh by the way, McCain doesn't support abortion on demand.
                Obama would call this a "distraction". Only he wasn't doing much of anything 22 years ago.
