McCain is doing well if you consider how many winds blow against him. An unpopular war, a skyhigh debt, a tanking economy, a discredited President; he faces a rival who is well-financed and backed by incredible enthusiasm.

But McCain's success is no victory for Republicans. They didn't want him; they just found he was the only valid candidate they had; Giulianai, Huckabee, Romney, etc were never serious to most of the country.

Yet McCain is anathema to the hard-core, to Bushs' Base.

A Rino; Republican In Name Only.

So he does well while all other republicans are sinking as fast as gas prices climb.

Even if McCain were to win, the Republican brand as it was is finished.

    No loss.
